I am thrilled to announce that Keep The Light On won a Peace Song Award at the 3rd Annual Peace Song Awards and International Day of Peace Celebration last night!
Keep The Light On is a soon-to-be-released 7th & Hope song (my duo with Betty Lawrence) about being there for each other in dark times. I co-wrote it with Betty Lawrence, Nitanee Paris and Pierre Williams.
Keep The Light On was chosen to win the Pop/Rock category by a panel of music and film legends and luminaries, including Stewart Copeland (GRAMMY Winner, The Police), Peter Yarrow (legendary folk singer & peace activist of Peter, Paul & Mary), Siedah Garrett (writer of “Man in the Mirror” perf by Michael Jackson), Maria Conchita Alonso (multi-platinum Latin singer), Peter Joseph (musician and director of the Zeitgeist movie series), Joanne Shenandoah (GRAMMY-winning Native American singer/songwriter), Ralph Simon (co-founder of Zomba Group and Jive Records, and Tim Kring (TV producer, Touch & Heroes).
I'm having a real "pinch me" moment that a song I co-wrote was even heard by these folks. To know that they chose it from all the entries is truly an honor.
I also had the honor of performing the song live with Hollywood and Mars, (Co-writers Nitanee and Pierre's band with Rachelle Renesse, and Dr. David Paige, with guests Samuel Vekeman on drums and Maria Tsvetkova on harmony vocals) at the Peace Song Awards Ceremony at AWA OASIA, a beautiful new arts venue in DTLA (Downtown Los Angeles).
